Blythe LaGasse, Ph.D., MT-BC

Blythe holds a Ph.D. in Music Education/Therapy with a minor in Communication Neuroscience from the University of Kansas. She also completed training in Neurologic Music Therapy (2001) and completed the NMT Fellow training (2004).

Blythe has been practicing music therapy since 2001, working with area music therapy companies before founding her private practice. She has experience working with children and adolescents who have disabilities including autism, emotional/behavioral disorder, learning disabilities, and developmental disabilities. Blythe has advanced training working with people who have autism and motor/speech disabilities.

Music Therapy Publications & Conferences

Blythe has presented at numerous conferences including workshops in China, Japan, and South Korea. She served as the American Music Therapy Association (AMTA) Council Coordinator for Professional Practices, on the Midwestern Region AMTA President, and is on the Music Therapy Perspectives and Journal of Music Therapy Editorial Boards.

Blythe is an active researcher and has contributed to several texts including:

  • Music, Health and Wellbeing: Therapy Education, and Communication (2012)
  • Developments in Music Therapy Practice: Case Study Perspectives (2011)

Dr. Blythe LaGasse has published peer-reviewed articles in the Frontiers in Neuroscience, Music and Medicine, Journal of Music Therapy, Music Therapy Perspectives, and Critical Reviews in Physical and Rehabilitative Medicine.
